Welcome to First Grade!

First grade is a year full of growth and learning! We will grow together as a classroom family spiritually, academically, emotionally, and socially. We’re going to have a great year and I’m so happy you’re here!

Monday-Friday: Read for 10 minutes each night.

Epic: This is a wonderful app to use for reading independently or listening on audio while following along.

National Geographic Kids: Kids can learn about animals, science, geography, and history through interactive games, videos, and stories.

Seesaw: Individualized learning materials for students. We may use this for homework assignments and sharing what we do in class.

iReady Math: Targeted math practice with interactive elements that are engaging for learners.

Biography

Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from St. Ambrose University

Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Northwestern Iowa

Angela started her teaching experience in the Bettendorf public schools as an upper elementary special education teacher. She’s also taught special education and math intervention at Lourdes Catholic School. Most recently Angela taught Pre-K at Saint John Vianney for the last four years. This will be her first year at JFK and her 10th year teaching.

Angela has been married for 13 years to Drew and they have two children, Kaden who is 12 years old, and Aurora who is 9 years old. Angela is a member of Our Lady of Victory, and you will often see her and her family at the 11:00 AM mass on Sunday’s. Angela loves animals and has 3 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 ducks. She enjoys taking care of animals, spending time reading (mysteries), and finding new places to explore/visit with her family.
