Preschool

Welcome to the Guardian Angel Preschool

A message from our preschool staff:

Thank you for considering Guardian Angel Preschool. The purpose of our preschool is to provide children an opportunity for early childhood education in a Christian setting.

Our goal is to give students an introduction to age appropriate academics, an opportunity to develop positive social skills with peers and adults, and to instill in your child the confidence and skills they will need when entering Kindergarten. We work to ensure students grow socially, physically, intellectually, emotionally, creatively and spiritually.

We are here to serve our students, our families and to address their needs. We always have the best interests of our students as our top priority. Students arrive with different backgrounds, experiences, strengths and weaknesses. We use each child’s unique characteristics to guide him/her toward success as young learners. We provide the positive setting and the instructional routines necessary to prepare each one for the transition into Kindergarten.

Families needing childcare and/or wrap-around services can enroll in our Early Childhood Learning Center.

Families of Guardian Angel Preschool are welcome to attend any school or parish event. We are a very welcoming community and eager to make new friends.

If you have questions on any of our programs or would like to enroll at Guardian Angel Preschool, please contact Angie Hillebrand in the JFK school office, at 563-391-3030.

We are proud to offer the following preschool options through Guardian Angel Preschool located in the lower level of John F. Kennedy Catholic School:

Four Year Old Preschool

Using the seven domains of learning: Math, Science, Social Development, Language-Literacy, Arts, Physical Development and Social Studies, we have a curriculum that is age appropriate and develops strong skills for Kindergarten readiness in a hands-on learning environment. To further enhance these seven domains, we use MacMillan/McGraw-Hill’s Little Wonders reading curriculum with the Davenport Community School District. This is an excellent reading program that not only covers reading skills but also writing, math, science, social studies and music skills.  For math, we utilize McGraw Hill’s Wright Group Everyday Math. The math series focuses on active experimentation, direct, hands-on experiences, problem solving and social interactions. It is aligned with the Iowa Core curriculum.  To help students develop their social skills, we use a program called Second Step. This curriculum covers empathy training, emotion management, problem solving and social information processing for preschoolers.

Children must be age 4 on Sept. 15th, and not yet 5, to qualify for the free four-year-old preschool. Children who are five years old on Sept. 15th may enroll under a tuition contract. Children must be able to use the toilet independently.
