“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Let’s face it, today’s emerging adults have a difficult road ahead of them. From the transition to independent life in college, navigating how to get out on one’s own after college, job searching and interviewing, and discovering the answers to the important questions of purpose, meaning, and identity in life – all of these occur in the process of emergence into adulthood.
As a parish we are currently assessing how we can better serve the needs of and welcome emerging adults to Our Lady of Victory. We invite you to join us for worship, for community, and for discipleship based events happening at the parish and diocesan level, about some of which you’ll find more information below.
You’re not alone in trying to find your way, and there are lots of ways to get involved, make friends, and grow closer to God at the same time! Don’t see what you’re looking for yet? We are open to new ideas and would love to hear from you! Wondering how to get involved? Use the contact forms, or call the parish offices!
Small Faith Community
“We must consider how to rouse one another to love and good works. We should not stay away from our assembly, as is the custom of some, but encourage one another, and this all the more as you see the day drawing near.”
Have you been looking for a community in which to grow as a disciple of Jesus?
Do you wonder how to navigate the landscape of adulthood and parish life?
Do you want to learn more about your faith, or find the answers to life’s big questions?
Young adults from Our Lady of Victory and neighboring parishes meet once a week for Bible study. On Sunday evenings emerging adults gather to discuss the Sunday mass readings in the Gathering Space Meeting Room. Not a Bible scholar? Not a problem! We are all here trying to learn and build a community of discipleship together. It’s not about having all the answers, it’s about being open to God’s Word in our lives. All you need to bring is your Bible and yourself!

We all need time to relax, have some fun, and make new friends! Our small faith community offers opportunities for socializing and entertainment. It’s the perfect chance to break the ice and get to know new friends at the parish before diving into Scripture study or other ministries. We’d love to see you! Want to bring a friend who isn’t Catholic? Perfect! Bring them to a no-pressure night with fun people! We pray at the beginning and the end, and otherwise focus on building up a welcoming community with warm hospitality. Non-Catholics and non-Christians welcome!
On Thursdays we usually meet at 4005 N. Division St., in Davenport, a small brick cottage on the campus of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. It’s best to park in the church parking lot and walk over, as the driveway cannot accommodate many vehicles.
Theology on Tap
“You make the grass grow for the cattle and plants for people’s work to bring forth food from the earth, wine to gladden their hearts, oil to make their faces shine, and bread to sustain the human heart.”
Want to learn more about your Catholic faith from local sources? Theology on Tap offers a friendly atmosphere, food and drinks, and the chance to dig a little deeper. Topics range broadly from what the Diocese is doing for refugees in these troubled times to how to engage in spiritual warfare as a young adult!
