Health Ministry Team (fka as Parish Nurses)<\/h3>\n

Team members are specifically trained in the Parish Nurse Program even our Health Advocates.\u00a0 They treat mind, body and soul.\u00a0 Health Advocates and the Parish Nurse can answer some of your medical questions, present health information, facilitate access to community services, listen to your concerns, and pray with you over those concerns. They CANNOT DO ANY HANDS ON MEDICAL TREATMENT.\u00a0 All contacts are confidential.

Mission\/Goals:<\/strong> This committee is responsible for the care, maintenance and improvement of parish properties.\u00a0 Makes minor repairs and develops recommendations about future requirements.<\/p>\n

Interested in flower gardening?<\/strong> A dedicated group plants the flowers each spring. They also take care of weeding and watering. If you have a green thumb, or would simply like to assist, just let us know. Contact the Parish office to get involved.<\/p>\n

Professionals & Skilled Trades:<\/strong> Volunteers are sought to work on specific projects throughout the year. Professionals and individuals with skilled trades, who are willing to share their talent for the good of the parish, are invited to make themselves known. The committee will connect with you on an as-needed basis.<\/p>\n

Who we are and what we do:<\/strong><\/p>\n

This committee of the Parish Pastoral Council meets regularly to plan, promote, and encourage the apostolic work of the Catholic Church. Helping others and being \u201cof service\u201d to the needs of others is part of what we, as followers of Christ, are asked to do. The committee has several projects each year. These include the Food Fellowship and Fun gathering for the over 55 crowd, the Adults with Disabilities Retreat, and support for men & women serving in the military.<\/p>\n

Prayer Shawl Ministry<\/h3>\n

Who we are and what we do:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Care and the love of knitting (and crochet) have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Whether called prayer shawls, lap blankets or mantels, they may be used for those undergoing medical procedures, as a comfort after a loss, during birthing or nursing a baby, during an illness and recovery, while ministering to others…the possibilities are endless. Many blessings are knitted into every shawl and offered when the gift is presented to the recipient. Those who have received shawls have been uplifted and affirmed by the ministry.<\/p>\n

Shawls are available to parishioners upon request. When gifting a friend or loved one with a prayer shawl, we ask that you pray with the recipient and pass on the instruction booklet. Please contact Lisa at the Parish Office (391-4245) during regular hours, or call Bonnie at 563-391-4245.<\/p>\n

Crochet and Knitters meet in the Gathering Space Meeting Room on the 2nd Saturday of the Month from 9am – 11am. Attendance at the meetings is not essential, but it does build community as members visit and share faith while they work. Beginners are always welcome. Experienced needleworkers are most happy to teach knitting and crocheting.<\/p>\n

How we help:
<\/strong>
The Christian Service Committee creates banners with food pantry items that can be selected and then parishioners purchase those items and bring them to the back of church. The commitee delivers the items to local Food Pantries.<\/p>\n

Pantry Sunday is the third Sunday of each month.<\/p>\n

Free Little Food Pantry<\/span>
<\/strong>The Free Little Food Pantry has been operational since mid February 2022 and we are very thankful for all the donations that have been made to the pantry. It has been a blessing to see how much the pantry has been utilized. Our continued prayer is that it will continue to meet the needs of our parish and surrounding community.<\/p>\n

The following items seem to be those most desired:
\u2022 Cereal\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u2022 Canned meats\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u2022 Peanut butter\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u2022 Canned fruit
\u2022 Shelf stable meals\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u2022 Pasta and pasta sauces<\/p>\n

Other items that are also nice to stock in the pantry include:
coffee, dog treats, and baking mixes.<\/p>\n

Donations can be dropped off in the marked box in the entrance of the church across from the elevator. If you know someone that needs some food, please feel free
to get some supplies from the free little food pantry to take to them. If you need food for you and\/or your family please take what you need. We truly want to bless those of our community by being able to provide what they may need.<\/p>\n
