John F. Kennedy
Catholic School

There is a difference in education.

An Introduction to John F. Kennedy Catholic School

Marzano Logo and Text

JFK is nationally recognized as a High Reliability School (HRS) by Marzano Resources. JFK’s Level 1 certification comes as the result of looking at day-to-day school operations in creating a safe, supportive and collaborative culture.

Level 1 certification recognizes achievement in safety, orderliness, input/feedback mechanisms, and decision-making. It acknowledges the collaborative work that teachers do regarding curriculum, assessment, instruction, and student achievement. It also addresses the fiscal, operational, and technological resources of the school, and the recognition of accomplishments.

JFK is one of only 50 schools in the state of Iowa and 605 in the entire nation that has achieved Level 1 certification as a High Reliability School.

Registration and Application for the 2025-26 School Year

Website for SCCS Registration and Application

To re-enroll by completing the Annual Information Update in PowerSchool or to apply to become an SCCS/JFK student please visit:

https://apply.sccsiowa.org/

The registration and application process will take you several minutes and require you to either update or enter names, grades, primary and emergency contact information, medical information, race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, and more. Careful verification and entry of this information is critical. You may want to have this information at hand before you begin the process. The process also works best when completed on a laptop/desktop rather than a mobile device.

Iowa’s K-12 Educational Savings Account (ESA) Families

ESA for 2025-2026 – The State of Iowa uses a program called Odyssey for processing all K-12 ESA information. For the 2025-2026 school year, all families that reside in Iowa will be eligible for this K-12 tuition assistance.

  1. All Iowa families will need to apply and follow all steps and meet all deadlines in order to be approved. The website is https://educate.iowa.gov/pk-12/educational-choice/education-savings-accounts.
  2. The ESA application for the 25-26 school year is not currently open. Families will receive communication from SCCS when it is open.
  3. ESA funds may be used by approved families to go towards K-12 tuition and other qualified education expenses. ESA funds may not be used for SCCS registration fees.
  4. For fall and spring semester, once tuition is entered by the Business Office staff in Odyssey, a parent must go into his/her Odyssey account and approve the tuition for each student so the State will send the funds to SCCS. Odyssey will send an email as a reminder.

New JFK Gym Uniform for 2023-24

JFK’s gym clothes policy has been revised for grades 5-8.  The gym uniform consists of a gym t-shirt and gym shorts, both of which must be purchased through the school’s vendor.  6th-8th graders who already have black gym shorts from last year may continue to wear them, but those students needing new shorts will have to order them from the new vendor.  Students may also wear gym sweatpants or joggers purchased through the school’s vendor.

JFK and St. Paul’s are both using Handicapped Development Center as the vendor for gym uniform.  To visit HDC’s webstore for JFK, please click the button below.

JFK Spirit Wear Online Store

Home and School’s spirit wear store periodically opens throughout the year. Proceeds from each purchase supports their general fund for things like Student of the Month prize, Catholic Schools week and other free events! To learn more about what Home and School Association (HSA) is and how to help volunteer, click the Learn About Home & School link below.

2024-25 School Supply List

The 2024-2025 school year School Supply List is now available.  Please click the button to view the Supply List.

Rosary Themed Play Area

A rosary-themed play area is located near the playground.  Centered in the plantings and overlooking playground is the memorial bench for Peg Gooder.  This project was accomplished through the generosity of volunteers and donors.
