Catholic School

There is a difference in education.

An Introduction to John F. Kennedy Catholic School

Marzano Logo and Text

JFK is nationally recognized as a High Reliability School (HRS) by Marzano Resources. JFK’s Level 1 certification comes as the result of looking at day-to-day school operations in creating a safe, supportive and collaborative culture.

Level 1 certification recognizes achievement in safety, orderliness, input/feedback mechanisms, and decision-making. It acknowledges the collaborative work that teachers do regarding curriculum, assessment, instruction, and student achievement. It also addresses the fiscal, operational, and technological resources of the school, and the recognition of accomplishments.

JFK is one of only 50 schools in the state of Iowa and 605 in the entire nation that has achieved Level 1 certification as a High Reliability School.

Registration and Application for the 2024-25 School Year

Website for SCCS Registration and Application
To complete the Annual Information Update or to apply to become an SCCS/JFK student please visit:
https://apply.sccsiowa.org/

The registration and application process will take you several minutes and require you to either update or enter names, grades, primary and emergency contact information, medical information, race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, and more. Careful verification and entry of this information is critical.  You may want to have this information at hand before you begin the process. The process also works best when completed on a laptop/desktop rather than a mobile device.

For more information regarding registration, programs, and timelines/deadlines, please also see the Principal’s Post for February 18, 2024:  https://www.olvjfk.com/principals-post/

New Students*

Any students new to Scott County Catholic Schools: Click “Get Started”.  Caution: Even current preschoolers at JFK are considered returning students.

Returning Students*

Select ‘Login”. Your PowerSchool username and password is used to login to complete the Information Update. If you do not remember your PowerSchool username and password, please contact JFK, and we may be able to help. If you have never created the PowerSchool account as a parent, additional instructions will be needed from JFK. If you have a student currently in JFK or a SCCS, and their name does not show up in your list, contact the school for the directions and code to add your child to the PowerSchool account. Only use “New Application,” if a child is not currently in JFK or a SCCS. Completing “New Application” for a student who is currently attending JFK or a SCCS will not allow for the processing of the application/re-enrollment.

Both New and Returning Students: Registration Fee
A non-refundable $125 registration fee per student is due at the time of registration. Prior to March 1, there will be a $25 discount on the registration fee. Registrations will not be considered if the registration fee has not been paid.

Parents can pay for their application fees through their Blackbaud account:

https://parent.blackbaud.school/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fEnhanced%2fReview_my_bill.aspx, under the shopping cart. There will be an item for 2024- 25 Application Fees.

ESA Families
The ESA application for the 2024-25 school year is not currently open. Families will receive a communication when the application for next school year is open. (The target date is supposed to be April 16th.) ESA funds may be used by eligible families to cover tuition, fees, and other qualified education expenses at accredited nonpublic schools in Iowa.

  • Families must apply each year
  • Eligible families in 2024-25 are the following:
    • All kindergartners and first graders
    • New transfer students
    • Students who already received an ESA this year due to transferring to JFK for 2023-24
    • Families whose income is less than 400% of poverty, which is just over $120,000 for a family of four
    • (In 2025-26, all families, regardless of income will be eligible for ESAs)

*A non-qualifying preschooler for 2024-25 is a non-Iowa resident or student who turns 5 on or before Sept 15th. Tuition is charged for this student, and there is a registration fee. There is no extra time fee. Please note that spots cannot be reserved for 5 year olds in preschool, if it creates a waiting list for eligible 4 year olds.

New JFK Gym Uniform for 2023-24

JFK’s gym clothes policy has been revised for grades 5-8.  The gym uniform consists of a gym t-shirt and gym shorts, both of which must be purchased through the school’s vendor.  6th-8th graders who already have black gym shorts from last year may continue to wear them, but those students needing new shorts will have to order them from the new vendor.  Students may also wear gym sweatpants or joggers purchased through the school’s vendor.

JFK and St. Paul’s are both using Handicapped Development Center as the vendor for gym uniform.  To visit HDC’s webstore for JFK, please click the button below.

JFK Spirit Wear Online Store

Home and School’s spirit wear store periodically opens throughout the year. Proceeds from each purchase supports their general fund for things like Student of the Month prize, Catholic Schools week and other free events! To learn more about what Home and School Association (HSA) is and how to help volunteer, click the Learn About Home & School link below.

2023-24 School Supply List

The 2023-2024 school year School Supply List is now available.  Please click the button to view the Supply List.

Rosary Themed Play Area

A rosary-themed play area is located near the playground.  Centered in the plantings and overlooking playground is the memorial bench for Peg Gooder.  This project was accomplished through the generosity of volunteers and donors.
