Grow with God

“So, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk with him, rooted in faith as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”

Colossians 2:6-7

Discipleship

Where do you see yourself?

Do you trust Jesus, the Church, or a Christian person or group?

Are you curious about Jesus, the one called Christ?

Are you open to whatever God may have in store for you?

Who do you want to be?

Are you actively seeking a relationship with God in His Son, Jesus?

Are you an intentional disciple of Jesus Christ, ready to lower your nets?

Discernment

Of your vocation

Your vocation is a calling from God – and it reflects two extremely important things:  How you can love God the best, and how you can most be yourself.  God doesn’t want you to be less yourself, or have less love, but more.  Indeed, He “came that you might have life and have it more abundantly” (Jn. 10:10).  Because it is a calling, you have to listen for it – which means being in a relationship with God, praying regularly, and seeking silence in which to hear his voice which comes as a still, small sound (1 Kings 19:12).

The Four Knowledges for discernment:

That which only you know.  You must reflect and know thyself.

That which only you don’t know.  You must listen to those who know you and love you best.

That which everyone knows.  You must acknowledge that you are part of a community.

That which only God knows.  You must seek the Lord in prayer and listen to Him.

Of your spiritual gifts

“Now in regard to spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be unaware.  There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.  To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.  To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another the expression of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit; to another mighty deeds; to another prophecy; to another discernment of spirits; to another varieties of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes.”

1 Corinthians 12:1, 4-11
